On 29.04.2026, CETT-UB hosted the national workshop “Knowledge and Skills for Blue Economy Tourism” as part of the Code BLUE project, held in hybrid format at the Living Labs of Hotel Alimara in Barcelona.

The event connected the academic world with the professional sector, bringing together voices from research, accommodation, transport, fishing, ecotourism, natural and cultural heritage, wellbeing, and marketing to discuss the challenges and competences that will define the future of coastal and maritime tourism with the aim of advancing innovative, cross-disciplinary education that integrates the principles of the blue economy, sustainability, and digital transition.

The session was organised around four stages:
– Navigation map: presenting the progress Code BLUE has made so far in mapping tourism and the blue economy.
– On board: a collaborative session identifying training gaps, key knowledge areas, and emerging opportunities for a sector in full growth and transformation.
– Arrival at port: participants shared the outcomes of their group work, building a shared vision for the future of tourism education in the blue economy.
– Next leg of the journey: defining the road map and the following steps of the project.
