The Code Blue project was presented at the 7th Annual IPBN Sustainability Conference: “Ocean”, an international forum dedicated to sustainable ocean management, blue economy development, and innovative solutions for protecting marine ecosystems.
The conference brought together representatives of businesses, research institutions, policymakers, and sustainability experts to discuss the challenges and opportunities related to ocean protection, sustainable maritime activities, and climate change adaptation.
During the event, Prof. Antonia Correia from KIPT CoLab presented the CodeBLUE project, highlighting its focus on the skills and competencies needed for the future of tourism within the Blue Economy.
A key insight emerging from the discussions was the urgent need to strengthen education and awareness. As coastal tourism continues to play a major role in regional economies, preparing people with the right knowledge and skills is essential to support a more sustainable and responsible transition.
Building this capacity will be critical to ensure that the blue economy evolves in a way that benefits both communities and ecosystems.
The participation of the Code Blue project in the conference provided an excellent opportunity to present the initiative to an international audience, exchange ideas with sustainability professionals, and explore possibilities for future cooperation within the blue economy and environmental protection sectors.
The 7th Annual IPBN Sustainability Conference: “Ocean” served as an important platform for dialogue and knowledge sharing, reinforcing the importance of joint efforts in safeguarding ocean resources and promoting sustainable development.
